This week we learned the consonants Hh and Rr. Our color was purple.
We can spell three letter words now! They have to be words that follow the vowel, consonant, vowel pattern...like the words on the "word homework" sheet you received at fall conferences.
In math we learned the numbers 11-20.
We are trying to teach the children that 11-20 have a set of tens. For example....12 is a set of tens with 2 extra.
In science we talked about the parts of trees. Your child should know the roots, the trunk, the branches, and the leaves. Also on their science report card test they should know why we use these science tools...hand lens, balance, thermometer, and safety goggles. Your child will also need to know their five senses....taste, touch, sight, hearing, and smell.
In science we also learned about light energy. We learned the the sun provides our word with heat and light.
For social studies we created a map of Back Elementary and put pictures of people who work at our school and help us learn.
