August 22-26

We had a great first week of kindergarten!  Here is a list of what we learned.
First Day picture!

In reading we learned the sight word I.  We also had literacy centers where we learned to recognize each other's first names. Your child should be able to write their first name without looking at an example.  The first letter should be capital with the rest of the letters in lower case.
In science we learned about objects in the sky during the day time and the night time.

In math we learned about sorting shapes by shape, size, and color.  Please make sure your  child can recognize circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles.

First day at center time!
Thank you to these two families for reading the newsletter and turning in the secret assignment for a prize!  Look for another secret assignment in newsletters in the future.
These awesome kids knew their lunch numbers this week!  If your child does not know their six digit lunch number, please help them memorize it.

Notes for the Week:
*Please make sure you check your child's folder to see a note about our environmental print project.
*The pigeon coloring sheet in your child's folder is for a coloring contest in the library.  The winner will receive a prize at meet the teacher night this Thursday.  Hope to see you there!  Remember we are also giving away a free leap frog learning pad!
