Our letters this week was the blend sl. We learned about the am word family. Our sight words were are and his.
We have some new math center games!
This week we learned all about coins. This is a game we played were we raced to sort a bowl full of coins by their worth. Your child should know a penny, a nickel, a dime, and a quarter, and how much each of them are worth.
Here we are shopping in our new grocery store.
This is a fun math song that we learned that you can practice at home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vb-w3rqRoJ8
In science we studied about penguins and how they keep warm. This is an experiment we did where we put vasoline on one of our hands to act as the layer of fat that penguins have. Then we put our hands in ice water to see how the hand covered in "fat" stayed much warmer than our other hand.
We also learned that penguins huddle together to stay warm, so we practiced making a penguin huddle.
This week we learned about Dr. Marthin Luther King, Jr. and how he changed the world. We talked about how important his speeches were and how he was able to change the world peacefully. It is powerful to think that all of these sweet children learning together is a realization of his dream.
Thank you to these families and their fun donations this week to our sticker books, our grocery store, and to the toy chest. They make our class so much fun!
Happy birthday to these friends!
We had a fun mom mystery reader this week and a special mystery reader visit from Officer Dianna Bell, our School Resource Officer.
This fun guy is my Bulldog of the Week! I love that I taught the children on Thursday about speech bubbles in our stories, and then Friday morning this smart boy comes in and says, "Look Mrs. DeFeo, I wore this shirt because it has speech bubbles!"
