May 1-5

This week we learned the word family ug and we reviewed the letter blends and sight words we have learned.  In math we learned about personal financial literacy.  We are learning about working for our income and spending our money on our needs before our wants.

Thank you so much for your support this week with our piñata party and for all of the wonderful teacher appreciation presents.  I loved them all!

April 24-28

This week we learned the ick word family.  We reviewed our letter blends and we learned the sight words where, from, and my.

In math we finished up our study of graphs and data.

We are working on presenting plays to the class in groups.  Each of these tables were a group that had their own play to work on Friday.  The kids had to design the backdrop for the play with the correct setting.  They also made character masks for each character to hold.  It will be fun to hear them read their plays next week.

Alphabet count down to the end of the year has begun!! On Wednesday, we had "Alien Art" painting to review letter A.

On Thursday, we blew bubbles to review letter B.

 On Friday, we ate cookies to review letter C!

April 17-21

This week we learned the word family ip.  We reviewed our letter blends and we learned the sight words with and me.

This week in math we learned about data and graphing.

In ELA we learned all about fairy tales and fables.  Ask your child if they can tell you the characteristics of a fairy tale and why people tell fables.  We also read a lot of dinosaur books.  This guy is a dinosaur lover and he was thrilled to learn more dinosaur facts!

In social studies we are talking about the importance of having a job.  We are thinking about what job we will choose when we grow up.  

In science we talked about Earth Day and how we can take care of our planet by recycling and keeping our world clean.

Some of the students in our class were on our STEAM challenge team.  They created this marble maze with the rest of the Back Kindergarten team.  I was very proud of them for representing us at the STEAM competition on Saturday.

April 10-13

This week we learned the word family in and reviewed our sight words and our blends.

We had fun measuring in math this week.  The kids learned to measure by length using linking cubes.

This sweet family brought all of the class a treat of M&M's.
