September 21-25

This week we learned the consonant Nn and the vowel Ii.  We know that the letter Ii can make two sounds, its short sound as in the word igloo and its long sound as in the word ice cream. We learned the sight word the, the color green, and the shape of a triangle.
In math we learned how to count and write the numbers 6-10.
In science class we talked about our new season, fall or autumn.
In social studies we talked about the importance of our families. Thank you to all the families who shared a photo.  They are hanging in our room and will be returned to you soon. The kids love to look at them. :)
Two birthday boys this week!

Thank you to these families for their awesome donations to our class!

We had two moms volunteer to be mystery readers this week! If you would like to do this for your child, we would love to have you. You will need to email me at jldefeo@garlandisd.net and we will find an available day when you can come to school at 10:10 and then eat lunch with your child, or at 2:45 and then you can take your child home. You may bring books from home to read, or may borrow some of my books. This is for anyone in the family, moms, dads, grandparents, older siblings, anyone important to your child. Please don't tell your child you are coming. They LOVE to be surprised!
I am up to 7 kids who know all of their letters and sounds and 4 kids who know their numbers 0-20. That is great! Please keep studying at home. I want everyone's name on the "Hall of Fame" in our hallway. If your child knows their letters and sounds...look for a home reader to come home tomorrow night! :)
I am so excited to say that almost everyone can write their first and last name and they know their 6 digit ID number. Make sure your child can do both of these things without looking!
This awesome kid was my Bulldog of the Week.  She loves to help her friends!
