September 8-11

This week we learned that the letter Aa is a vowel and can make two sounds.  It has a long sound...that sounds like its name a, as in apron.  It also has a short sound as in apple.  We reviewed our sight words I , can, and an.  We learned about the color word blue and the shape of a square.
In math we continued to work with the numbers 0-5 and counting quantities up to five.
In science we learned that we observe the world around us with our five senses.  Our five senses are our sight, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching.
In Social Studies we talked about people who are in authority.  We read Duck for President.  We talked about how I am the "boss" of our classroom, but Mrs. McCutcheon and Mr. Marshall are my bosses.  We learned that sometimes we will be the boss in our life and sometimes we will have to follow a boss.  It was fun to have each child tell me who was the boss of their home.  ;)
We learned about September 11th.
We were able to have our first take home readers.  If you sign your child's paper books and return them to school, they will receive a sticker in their sticker books.  Starting Monday we will have a paper reader every day!
These smarties learned their lunch numbers this week!
Thank you to these families for donating items for our class!  I am so thankful for all of this support!
Thank you to this family for signing up to raise money for Jump Rope for Heart.  Coach Baier delivered his new necklace to thank him for participating.  I sent out an email last week on how you can sign up.

Thank you to all of our Grandparents who visited us for lunch on Friday!  It was so cute to watch the kids spot their grandparents as we walked in the cafeteria.
This awesome girl was chosen as the Bulldog of the Week in PE and chosen by Coach Baier.  She was the only one chosen from the whole school!! Way to go!
This sweet helper is my Bulldog of the Week for our classroom.
