Welcome to Kindergarten August 24-28

I am super excited for a year with these cuties!
This week we were introduced to the alphabet and learned the sight word I.  Your child should know that there are 26 letters in the alphabet.  They should know that the first letter is Aa, the last letter is Zz, and the middle letters are Mm and Nn.  They should know that you can write a letter as a capital or as a lower case letter.  Also, they should know that there are five vowels (a, e, i, o, and u) and that the rest of the letters are consonants.
In math we learned to count and compare the numbers 1-5.
In science we talked about observing the sky and the weather.
One of the main things we learn in kindergarten is how to follow the rules and get along with our friends.
Here we are working on dry erase boards for the first time.
This is what we call Think-Pair-Share time. The children are discussing how they felt about a story that we read in class.
Practicing cutting and gluing.  This can be a big challenge when you are 5!  :)
This is our morning dance party!  We like to dance to wake up each day.

Here we are showing our fun centers!
Every afternoon, we see which student has the most "Bear Bands" for the day.  These children get to go to the treasure chest for a toy.  :)
We had a birthday girl this week!
I chose this sweet girl as my Bulldog of the Week!
Mrs. DeFeo's Wish List!
Our class would love to have donations of spiral notebooks, fun stickers, skittles, and plain M&M's.  We would appreciate anyway you can help us get excited about learning.
